> Two parts, you can use one or both:

Part 1- Graphic organizer with yes/no opinion questions (based on novel themes)

Part 2- Students select two of the topics answered in the graphic organizer and write a paragraph explaining their position.
> Gets students thinking about topics that will be in the novel: destiny, money, friendship, pleasure, wisdom, etc.
